27th CRS Patch [Series III-Back To Earth]

The first of arguably the three most identifiable patches, this 27th CRS emblem can first be found on Lister's screen-left sleeve of his leather jacket between Series III-IV. In Series V, a second patch appears under the screen-right front of the jacket, beneath the breast pocket, where it remains in situ until the final part of, Back To Earth. From Series VII-onwards, the original patch on the jacket arm disappears.

I seem to recall publicity shots showed the patch very briefly relocating to the reverse side of Lister's latest leather jacket from Series X, though I don't believe it actually carried over into any of the episodes; instead being replaced by Evilkid's Cherry Bomb patch.

I understand, "CRS" refers to "Component Repair Squadron" - a USAF Maintenance division; presumably responsible for ascertaining starboard engines' thrust-to-input ratios, craft inertia ratings and/or P.S.I., and otherwise getting malfunctioning kites back up into the big black. Wishful thinking, but I wonder if any of its highly-skilled servicemen have ever been nicknamed, 'Spanners'..?
