You know, I truly feel that Phil Cornwell's Mick Jagger impersonation is an all-time classic, and rightly so. I still dine out on, 'Ere, d'you lot wanna go to a paahhrty at the Daaaalai Llaaaama's 'ouse? I knaow him, y'knouw..!
I digress. Given the sheer number of variants out there to choose from, the Rolling Stones patch is tricker than you might first think in finding an accurate version. To be honest, I'm still not 100% sure that I have found the right one yet; which consequently renders this one still unconfirmed. But, only just.
Most contemporary examples take the form of a typically embroidered-style patch, but I believe the screen-used version was rather an appliqué type. In fact, the most accurate example I've found so far, sold to me as being 1970s vintage old stock, doesn't appear to feature any stitching whatsoever; most likely, heat-pressed.
Something also worth noting, is the red border which surrounds the patch. This specific aspect matches the screen-used one, for sure.
Eventually, this piece was replaced by the Ohio State Parks patch during Series V, and can previously be found on the screen-left front of Lister's leather jacket between Series III-IV, specifically below the breast pocket, and beside a small enamelled pin badge version of much the same design. For Series V [well, Terrorform], the patch, or a very close approximation, jumps up to fill the screen-left collar of Lister's long leather coat.
