Is this the human value you call... 'friendship'? Nope. It's another patch - this time from the Dave era.
Gifted the kindly moniker "Friendship 7", Mercury-Atlas 6 was the fifth human spaceflight, which took place just five days (and twenty-two years) prior to the inaugural televisual broadcast of Red Dwarf. Amazing timing. The vessel's pilot was John Glenn, who travelled over 65,000 miles in just under five hours - also the number-one outgoing entry on Glenn Miller's Pennsylvanian phone bill.
This patch can be found all the way down on Lister's screen-right boot, from Series X-onwards. Details can be quite difficult to make out given the sheer few shots of, well, the floor, episode-to-episode, but if I happen to find a still which proves it fell off, or something, I'll be in touch... *whistles down the corridor*...
Measures approximately 7.5cm across.
