Scrambled Egg Patch [Unconfirmed] [Series V]

The first time I recall this type of patch being described as 'scrambled egg' was, I think, during a documentary (possibly, Dangerous Days) describing Ridley's Scott's tongue-in-cheek cap, embroidered "Guv'nor", that he wore during the so-called 'T-Shirt War' in an attempt to diffuse a particularly tense period on the production of Blade Runner. In addition to which, Harry Dean Stanton's Brett, in ALIEN, sports some of these boiled chicken ovulations on his iconic Nostromo cap. Also... actually, no... I'm not speculating where Pete Jr. came from.

Despite presenting as yet another bastardised signature of superiority, I find this one to be an ever-so-slightly curious addition. You see, these polyester ovum patches usually come in pairs, adorning the peak of a senior officer's cap in the form of an oak leaf sprig. In this instance, only the 'left' patch appears to have been added on the screen-left front of Lister's Series V leather jacket, applied vertically, almost as if to cover something, if not fill the gap between opposing additions.

In something of a Mandela Effect moment, I briefly considered including a screenshot of Rimmer's officer uniform from either Me2, Kryten, and Better Than Life, but despite being toffed-up to the nines, upon inspection, the peak of that costume's cap is distinctly sprig-less. Must be the mind-patch unmeshing.

Despite available examples being fairly typical in appearance, it ultimately proved a bit tricky to find one that looked as close as that used on-screen in terms of outline, metallic finish, and quantum dimensionality. That said, with only SD snippets to go by, gleefully onto the 'Unconfirmed' pile, this one goes.

Dimensions are approximately 89x38mm.
