Humphrey Bogart postcard [Series III-V]

The start of the beautiful friendship that bonded Humphrey Bogart and Red Dwarf developed between 1942 and 1991. As early as the second series episode, Better Than Life, the Boys were heard to argue over the definitive version of Bogie's synonymous classic, Casablanca. Later, that very flick forms much of the thematic basis for Series IV slushy lovey-dovey mush-fest, Camille – so much so that the titular character's first date with Krytie concludes in the ship's comfy kinejo, nestled between a bucket of popcorn, amidst Herman Hupfeld's As Time Goes By.

This postcard can be found above the aforementioned Rocky Horror postcard, and to the left of the Matt Belgrano postcard on the Series III-V bunk-room set. It monochromatically depicts Humphrey Bogart's hard-boiled Private Detective, Sam Spade from 1941 film noir, The Maltese Falcon, in full mardy macho manly-man mode. The sheer style depicted in this iconic shot was no doubt instrumental when it came time to design Harrison Ford's iconic neo-noir getup for Blade Runner's Deckard, and later, Richard O'Callaghan's mysterious Tyrell-aping "Creator" (perhaps, in fact, "Grant Naylor", or even "Rick Naylor"?) in three-parter, Back To Earth.

If you're on the lookout for one of these, make sure it has the requisite white border, otherwise, your rival, 1:1 scale, garden shed, bunk-room recreation will suddenly appear woefully inadequate – to the extent that you may even consider repurposing it from storing defensive shields and jet-powered rocket pants, to a garden strimmer and some warm compost... Trust me. I know whereof I speak.

Standard continental dimensions of 150 x 100mm.
